The Bulgarian-American Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange in partnership with the University of Miami and the International Center of Mathematical Sciences-Sofia is now offering a new grant for Bulgarian post-doctoral scholars in mathematics to spend a semester at the University of Miami.

The grant is open to Bulgarian early-career scholars in the field of mathematics who have received their PhD no more than ten years before the application deadline (February 4, 2022). The grant supports five months of research at the University of Miami, which is home of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the Americas (IMSA). This project fits perfectly with the three-pronged mission of IMSA: “(1) To foster and facilitate research in mathematics and its applications across the Americas; (2) To disseminate advances from this research broadly and interactively to the global mathematical and scientific communities; and (3) To build national and international capacity in the mathematical science workforce by providing targeted educational opportunities at key points in human intellectual development from middle school through postdoctoral training.
Candidates from all Bulgarian educational institutions can apply and need not have a prior affiliation with the International Center of Mathematical Sciences-Sofia. However, successful grant holders are strongly encouraged to continue collaboration with both ICMS and IMSA upon their return to Bulgaria.
The five-month grant includes round trip airfare, a monthly maintenance allowance of $4,800, settling-in allowance, and health insurance.
