Nicole Fox

Public Affairs Officer, US Embassy in Bulgaria
Nicole Fox is a career diplomat who currently serves as the Counselor for Public Affairs at U.S. Embassy Sofia.  She has also served as Spokesperson at U.S. Mission Thailand;  Chief of the Environment, Science, Technology, Health, and Energy Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Manila;  Deputy Director in the Democracy, Rights, and Governance Office at USAID’s Mission in Bangladesh;  Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe; and Economic and Consular Officer in at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  She has also worked in Washington, D.C. on the China Desk and as Senior Policy Advisor for African Affairs in Secretary Kerry’s Office of Global Women’s Issues.  Prior to joining the U.S. State Department, Nicole worked in higher education at Stanford University and as an anthropologist and archaeologist, conducting fieldwork in New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, the Bahamas, India, Peru, and Australia.  Originally from Maui, Hawai’i, Nicole received undergraduate degrees in Anthropological Sciences, Archaeology, and Human Biology from Stanford University.  She also has a Master’s in Anthropological Sciences from Stanford University and a Master’s in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.  She has studied Spanish, Hawaiian, Vietnamese, Thai and Bulgarian.
